Scorpion Solitaire

Frequently asked questions about Scorpion

Are all Scorpion deals winnable?

No, and the app does not tell you whether a deal is winnable: it has neither hints nor a solver. Deal SC1-C-AAAAAAB can be won; the Examples page replays it in 52 moves. This site gives no percentage of winnable deals, as there is no reliable measurement.

What is the difference between Classic and Relaxed?

In Classic, the default rules, a card is placed on a card of the same suit and one rank higher: the 7 of hearts on the 8 of hearts. In Relaxed, suit no longer matters; the rank only needs to descend by one. Everything else stays the same: only a King may go in an empty column, and complete sequences must be of the same suit.

Relaxed rules

When should you deal the stock?

The app lets you deal it once, whenever you like: its 3 cards are placed face up on columns 1, 2 and 3. The traditional rules save it until no more moves are possible. Since it covers three columns, it is best to deal it when those cards will not block anything useful.

What is the game code for?

Each deal has a code, for example SC1-C-AAAAAAB: SC1 identifies the game, C means Classic or R means Relaxed, followed by 7 characters identifying the deal. In the New Game window, choose “Load a game using a code” and paste it to replay the exact same layout. A shared code gives the same game on another device.

Can you place a card on a foundation?

No. The 4 foundations only accept complete sequences, from King to Ace of the same suit, and the app moves them there automatically. You never place a card on a foundation manually.

Complete sequences

Why is my complete sequence not being removed?

The app removes a complete sequence when it forms at the top of a column, with the King underneath and the Ace on top, all cards face up. It checks the column where you have just placed cards. If other cards are on top of the Ace, the sequence is covered and is not removed.

When a sequence is removed

Can you undo a move?

Yes, the app keeps the last 100 actions. Undoing the move that formed a removed sequence brings it back and subtracts the points earned for that move. Playing a move never lowers the score: it starts at 0 and never falls below 0.

Can you play on a computer?

No, the app is available on iPhone, iPad and Android, and is played in landscape orientation. There is no computer version.
